Rally Class and Training Classes Start in February
 

APPLEWOOD KENNELS uses Positive Training techniques. We want to build a positive bond between you and your wonderful dog.   Classes offered: PUPPY CLASS  6 Week Class  For Puppies 8 weeks to 6 months Covering Socialization to people, other dogs and other places which is very important to all puppies to prevent many behavior problems.   We also introduce basic commands-attentions,  sit, down, stay and come.   We talk about Housetraining, Puppy Biting, Bite Prevention, Praise, Controlled Walking, Fear, Jumping, Barking, Crates, Basic Grooming, Parasites and more

BASIC OBEDIENCE CLASS

6 Week Class for dogs who have never been to a class.

Covers much the same as Puppy Class.   1st step to becoming a Canine Good
Citizen
 

CANINE GOOD CITIZEN CLASS 9 Week class for dogs over 6 months old who have taken either Puppy Class or Basic Obedience class.   The last class will be the AKC CANINE GOOD CITIZEN TEST.   It will be given on Heeling with Distractions,  Accepting strangers, Sit, Down, Stays, Going with a stranger, Accepting other dogs and having ears and feet touched by a stranger.  Learning how to be a Canine Good Citizen.   This is the only Title that the AKC will be give to all dogs,  purebred or not.   AKC feels all dogs should hold this title.   Yours can too!! ADVANCED CLASSES Agility or Rally available only in the summer

Requirements for all classes:

Negative fecal  (stool sample taken to vet)
Current on Rabies   Da2pp and Bordetella

Who is theTRAINER?

CHRIS OLSON is the Owner of APPLEWOOD. Chris has shown in Conformation,  Obedience, and Agility Trials. She has earned titles in all three venues of AKC,  UKC, and NADAC. Nanuk, her Alaskan Malamute,  won a High in Trial in Obedience and was the Top Alaskan Malamute in the country for AKC Excellent Agility in 2002. Nanuk earned 19 titles in obedience and agility.  

Mackintosh,  her Norwegian Elkhound was a breed Champion in the US and Canada. He has a Best in Show win and was the Top Norwegian Elkhound in AKC Open Agility in 2002. He earned 12 titles in obedience and agility.   

But,  Chris' favorite part of training is watching the progression of the dogs in classes from the 1st class to the last. The bond that develops between the dogs and the owners is priceless.  

Chris now has a German Shepard dog found running the streets of Chicago. Moxie came to Chris when she was 7 months old. Moxie was easily distracted to the point where  Chris could not take her with other dogs. She would be straining at the end of the leash barking and jumping. Chris  could not get her attention at all. As of the spring of 2006,  Moxie has 4 agility titles and 1 obedience title. We are entered in several shows this year, so that count will go up. Chris learned many new training technigues from Moxie!!!!
